Angel Banchs, Owner and Lead Colour Engineer at Red Rock OPS, has been working with us for over a decade. He first encountered our technology while at VER in 2011, recalling, “We saw that Brompton just does things right and it was very exciting to work with them back in 2011 and since, as things have progressed.”
He’s seen the evolution of our products from the legacy Tessera M2 right through to the launch of the 4K Tessera SX40, which he calls “industry changing”, describing how the addition of features such as ShutterSync and Frame Remapping have solved many challenges. He adds, “Brompton continues to innovate by listening to customers, and that’s very important.”
One of the most exciting developments in Angel’s view is the Hydra calibration system. Red Rock OPS now offers Hydra panel calibration as a service in the U.S, and earlier in 2025 recalibrated nearly 2,000 panels for Rentex – giving their inventory a second life. “The panels were almost at the end of their life and we were able to take that whole fleet of LED and refresh it to brand-new levels,” he explains. “So Rentex basically now has a whole new offering.”
Recalibrating panels with Hydra doesn’t just eliminate the need for new inventory, he points out, but by doing so it also removes the need to invest in cabling, RFID tags and cases, not to mention the saving on time for processing new gear. The existing stock stays in play, and so does the team’s knowledge. “The only difference is that now you have a fully calibrated panel that can be rented again and again, extending your ROI.”
Beyond calibration, Hydra opens the door to some of Brompton’s advanced features, with Angel highlighting examples like HDR, Extended Bit Depth, DynaCal and PureTone. It’s not just major rental houses benefitting, either. “We’re also thinking about smaller operations, like houses of worship, that may only have a few hundred tiles. Hydra calibration brings features to their panels that weren’t available to them before.”
That forward-thinking mindset, he believes, is a defining Brompton quality. “They are one of the most forward thinking companies in the industry. They’re thinking about innovation, sustainability, their customers. So when you buy a Brompton product, you’re buying an ecosystem that’s going to be with you for years to come.”
